From Grandpa

It was only transient; after only three days Grandpa had finally died of heart disease. He was Lillian’s last grandparent and knowing only to herself, the best person she ever knew. He taught her so much,  different arts, games and mediums of craft. Now all that was left were several different mediums lying around in his house, that Lillian had no clue of how to use them.
Lillian and her father went round to grandpa’s house to trawl through his paraphernalia, to see if there was something to keep. While father briskly searched in the kitchen, Lillian felt somewhat ill from almost robbing grandpa’s house after his death. Lillian made her way up stairs sub-consciously, not expecting to find anything she wanted up there. The moment she reached the top of the stairs she spotted, placed on to the covered snooker table, a large antique cabinet that must have been placed there for someone to find. Lillian shuck awake at the sight of it, she had never seen it before and found it to be in a curious place. She opened the inviting cabinet and found  one of the most beautiful model ships she had ever seen. This was a hobby of grandpa’s that Lillian never could get into, but that was all about to change. On the shelve below the one holding the one model ship, were large  stacked rectangular boxes as well as a small painting set wedge on top. Lillian pulled out one of the boxes and was immediately greeted with a small sticky note. Lillian squinted her eyes to read the terrible handwriting she recognized as her grandpa’s.

The message read “For Lillian, there’s still hours of fun to be had.” Lillian felt overjoyed with what she was given, but also scarcely confused. Did grandpa know he was going to die, and left this present in his house for Lillian to find. He must have thought along time about it and plan hours ahead. Nevertheless Lillian felt prodigious with her new ship gifts and felt incentivized by her grandpa to start immediately with crafting. It would be a small hobby, just like it was grandpa’s, who spent most of his time with ‘small hobbies.’
