The great valley was going to be the
resting place for our fellow hare’s, Henry Hare and Burnett, a loving couple
expecting their children soon but hopefully once they arrive at the valley. To
reach it, they traveled upstream along the cold river bank; how long it would
take neither of them knew.
Five days up the river is how long it took
so far, Burnett was tired and felt her stomach joggle. Or was it the baby
trying to get out? Burnett was going through labour on the cold stone of the
river bank.
Henry Hare took a while to garble what Burnett was trying to tell
him. Eventually after figuring it out Burnett was in screams. Henry Hare called
for help, but Burnett screamed a non-understandable message that Henry Hare
could understand as “it wasn’t any use. “ Henry Hare waited excitedly for the
birth, but started to panic when Burnett still continued screaming. Something
was wrong, she was having trouble, rolling over in the rock in pain. Henry Hare
held his wife down hoping to bring her at ease. He felt the heat of her
agonizing body warm his paws, until it suddenly went very, very cold. Henry
Hare let go of his wife, and saw no son or daughter lying born anywhere, rather
a dismal sight. There was no baby, but even more ostensible was Burnett seeming
to be fine. Henry Hare nudge her but felt only cold and no movement, leaving a
pathos on him. He nor Burnett did not expect this to happen at all. He lay by
his wife thinking to continue his journey to the great valley after he recovered.
